Chinese auto show opens in 2015 at the China Expo Complex
Change of venue for Auto Shanghai
In 2015, the Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition (Auto Shanghai) will be taking place for the first time in the new China Expo Convention and Exhibition Complex (China Expo Complex), between April 20 and 29. Alternating each year with Auto China (Beijing), this trade show for automobiles and automotive technology needs to expand to keep pace with the ongoing rising demand for exhibition space.
The new venue is located west of the Shanghai Hongqiao Central Business District, right next to the Hongqiao High Speed Railway Station and Hongqiao Airport. The China Expo Complex is easily reached via metro line 2.
At the show in 2015, April 20 and 21 are planned as media days, and on April 22 and 23, it will be open exclusively to trade visitors.
With a flourishing automobile market in China, Auto Shanghai is also developing into one of the most attractive auto shows in China and around the world. In 2015, the show will be celebrating its 30th anniversary.
The last Auto Shanghai in 2013 attracted around 1,800 exhibitors from 18 countries and regions, all showcasing their vehicles and technical innovations for the automotive sector on 280,000 square meters of exhibition space. 813,000 visitors attended the event to find out about the latest market trends.
Since the 1980s the Chinese automobile market has been expanding in line with the country’s tremendous economic development. In 2009, China topped the world rankings for the first time in terms of automobile production and sales figures. In 2013, around 22.2 million vehicles were manufactured in China, and approximately 22 million vehicles were sold.
