Auto Shanghai is still the largest automotive trade show in the world
Successful premiere on new grounds
A total of 928,000 visitors from 18 countries came at the end of April to the 16th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition (Auto Shanghai), which took place in 2015 at the new National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) for the first time. Ca. 2,000 companies from around the world presented their innovations involving cars, trucks, vans and buses on around 350,000 square meters of exhibition space. That makes Auto Shanghai still the largest automotive trade show in the world.
At Auto Shanghai, a total of approximately 1,300 vehicles were displayed, about 100 of which had their world premiere here. "Even if the predictions for growth in the Chinese auto market are no longer in the double-digits, China remains the largest market for the industry," says Peter Bergleiter, Managing Director of IMAG – Internationaler Messe- und Ausstellungsdienst GmbH, the European co-organizer of Auto Shanghai.
Exhibitors welcomed the clear concept of the halls and the much larger area, since many companies were able to expand their stand space. But even first-time exhibitors had a chance to have a stand. Overall, the number of exhibitors grew by about twelve percent, and the number of visitors by approximately 14 percent, compared to the previous event in 2013.
One first-time exhibitor was the Turkish hose manufacturer Teklas. "Our goal is to be competent in global competition, which is the reason why, in 2013, our most recent investment was in our own production facility in Changxing. This is why Auto Shanghai is a very important trade fair for us to contact our customers and suppliers. We especially appreciated that, due to the large size of the fairground, all experts in a delivery field exhibited in the same fair area. This meant short and easy distances for visitors," said Vedat Sahinkaya, Purchasing Manager at Teklas.
Boge Rubber & Plastics from Damme, a business unit of ZF Friedrichshafen until 2014, also presented itself for the first time with its new brand at Auto Shanghai. "We're going to invest an amount in the double-digit millions in a second plant in Wuxi, thereby further expanding the China location, which is all-important for us. Our participation in Auto Shanghai was particularly important for us to talk with customers and partners in person," says Dr. Torsten Bremer, CEO of Boge, supplier of vibration control technology and plastics solutions.
At the end of April, Auto Shanghai was held at the new National Exhibition and Convention Center for the first time. Everything under the sign of the four-leaf clover was set architecturally on the 400,000-square-meter site.
With 928,000 visitors from 18 countries, Auto Shanghai, the world's largest motor show, set a new record.
Even the entrance to the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Shanghai is extremely impressive.
Exhibitors and visitors particularly praised the clear concept of the new site.
Not only were complete vehicles presented at Auto Shanghai. The automotive suppliers also took advantage of the trade fair to present their new products.
