Cars are to become an important economic factor in Iran once again. The objectives of the coming years sound ambitious: by 2025/26 (the Iranian year covers the 12 months from March to March), it is expected that approximately 3 million internationally competitive vehicles will be built in Iran, a third of them for export. Initial talks with European and Asian manufacturers for a range of cooperation models have been underway since the market opened up to foreign manufacturers in November 2013. Since sanctions were relaxed in January 2016, developments have been gathering pace. At the Tehran Auto Show, to be held from November 27 till December 1, 2017, vehicle manufacturers from all over the world will be presenting their products for Iran and the entire Middle East. This will be the second Tehran Auto Show, following the inaugural international industry event in February 2017. It covers around 50,000 m² of exhibition space at the "Shahr-e-Aftab" exhibition centre, which opened for business in 2016. Around 100,000 visitors are expected. The Tehran Auto Show is the only international trade show for vehicle manufacturers in Iran.
Global players made use of the first ConMin West Africa
ConMin West Africa (the international trade fair for construction machinery and mining in West Africa) and the accompanying "National Mining Summit" took place for the first time in Nigeria's capital Abuja from June 13th to 15th. The German foreign trade fair organizer IMAG, together with its Nigerian partner Afrocet Montgomery, had invited experts to the Abuja International Conference Centre. At the conference, about 250 participants from politics and industry discussed the promising future of mining in Nigeria and West Africa in various sessions. International exhibitors presented their innovations at the trade fair.
It is estimated that the 110 largest display items of the German exhibitors at this year's China International Machine Tool Show (CIMT) in Beijing weighed 1,060 tons. The "Made in Germany" machines consumed about 9,200 kW of electricity during the five exhibition days from April 17th to 22nd. The largest machine tool trade fair in China was once again bursting at the seams this year; nevertheless, the exhibitors and trade fair organizers once again mastered the challenges that were involved. A total of 226 exhibitors from Germany participated.
Automotive suppliers shape mobility concepts of the future
For eight days, the international automobile world presented its innovations at the world's largest automobile fair, the Auto Shanghai. In addition to all the well-known manufacturers, many innovative suppliers of the industry were also represented. Three of the 13 clover-shaped exhibition halls used were reserved exclusively for them. Rightly so, because who else is shaping the mobility of the future, such as driving with alternative drive technologies or autonomous movement?
The fifth edition of analytica Vietnam, which was held from March 29 to 31, 2017, in the International Center for Exhibition (I.C.E) in Hanoi, produced an excellent overall result. 121 exhibitors from 17 countries, more nations than ever before, presented their products and solutions for the laboratory technology, analysis, biotechnology and diagnostics industries. Besides the product highlights of several domestic and international exhibitors, visitors can look forward to a supporting program that ranges from the analytica Vietnam conference to tutorials and buyer-seller meetings. analytica Vietnam is the country's most important industry platform for laboratory technology, analysis, biotechnology and diagnostics, and it takes place at the International Center for Exhibition (I.C.E.) in Hanoi from March 29–31, 2017.
ConMin West Africa: Germany and Nigeria are advancing economic development
The international trade fair for construction machinery and mining, ConMin West Africa, in Abuja, Nigeria and the parallel conference "National Mining Summit" will be postponed from April 2017 to June 13-15, 2017. Dr. Reinhold Festge, member of the board and former president of the Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau (VDMA) [the German Engineering Federation] as well as Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President and CEO of the Nigerian Dangote Group, are expected to attend the fair. For a long time, Dangote has been committed to a sustainable economic development of African countries.
On December 7, 2016 Germany's oldest foreign trade fair company will be celebrating its 70th birthday. IMAG, a subsidiary of Messe München, has already been involved in more than 5,000 international trade fairs and exhibitions since its founding in 1946. It is currently experiencing strong growth in Iran and is opening up the African continent with new trade fairs in Kenya and Nigeria.
3330 exhibitors from 13 countries presented their innovations at the twelfth IranConMin in Tehran. This represents a 50 percent increase in both the number of exhibitors as well as the exhibition space compared to the previous event in 2015. China, Finland and South Korea were represented with joint stands. And after the easing of the sanctions, Germany was also once again represented with an official participation with 45 companies. China – the market of the future – at Auto Shanghai 2017
China's auto market is still at the top. After single-digit growth rates in 2015, the first half of 2016 shows clear upward growth again with 12 percent. One reason is surely the tax reduction (introduced in October 2015) for cars that have an engine capacity of up to 1.6 liters. China still leads the ranking of the largest car markets in the world. It also wants to be at the head of the pack for the trending topics of electric mobility and autonomous driving. That is why these future trends are in the foreground at Auto Shanghai: the largest automotive exhibition in the world. In 2017, it will be held from April 20th to 27th at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC).
Algeria: Growth in Building and Construction Machinery
Did you know that Algeria is the largest country in Africa? But a geographic edge is not Algeria's only advantage. Algeria is also a desired trading partner since the country has put the modernization of its infrastructure at the top of its agenda. For Germany, Algeria is the best trading partner in North Africa for generating sales. A presence at international construction trade fairs in Algeria now provides an avenue for building business relationships with public and private business partners.
Environmental technologies are becoming increasingly important in oil-rich countries
Countries like the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and – after the relaxation of political tensions – Iran plan large investments for the development of alternative energy use. In the fall of 2016, in both countries trade fairs will be held on the subject of water, wastewater, energy and the environment – ideal platforms to make the right contacts and to take part locally in the development of new infrastructure projects.
After the easing of sanctions on January 16, 2016, Iran is becoming the preferred trading partner in almost every industry. The prospect of lucrative deals that Tehran can make after the unfreezing of funds coupled with an almost decade-long investment backlog puts Iran, with its population of 80 million inhabitants, in worldwide focus as a trading partner. This is also confirmed by the international exhibition company IMAG from Munich as an organizer or partner of six trade fairs in Tehran.
For 2017, IMAG (a subsidiary of the bauma-organizer Messe München) and Nigerian Afrocet Montgomery are organizing the first trade fair for construction machinery and mining in Nigeria: the ConMin West Africa. The trade fair will take place from April 25th to 27th at the International Convention Centre in the capital Abuja.
The fifth edition of analytica Vietnam, a spin-off of analytica in Munich, will take place at the International Center for Exhibition (I.C.E.) in Hanoi from March 29 to 31, 2017. Moving the trade fair from Ho Chi Minh City to the Vietnamese capital has advantages: Hanoi is the political center of the country and home to its most important universities. Effective immediately, exhibitors may now register for analytica Vietnam.
The 17th construction machine trade fair CTT will be held this year from May 31st to June 4th at the Crocus Expo Center in Moscow. The international exhibition company IMAG recommends showing your presence and cultivating business contacts in Russia even at this time.

The international fair is gaining more, urgently needed exhibition space in the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC). After Asia's leading machine tool exhibition China International Machine Tool Show (CIMT) in Beijing, its sister trade fair CCMT is now bursting at the seams, too. The joint exhibition of German companies with the motto "Made in Germany" will be organized at both trade fairs by IMAG in Munich. Registration for the ninth edition of the CCMT with approximately 170,000 expected visitors is possible from now until September 14, 2015.
A total of 928,000 visitors from 18 countries came at the end of April to the 16th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition (Auto Shanghai), which took place in 2015 at the new National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) for the first time. Ca. 2,000 companies from around the world presented their innovations involving cars, trucks, vans and buses on around 350,000 square meters of exhibition space. That makes Auto Shanghai still the largest automotive trade show in the world.
Munich/Tehran, May 2015. The Iranian year 1394 (the year changed on March 20th) had a promising start: The framework agreement, adopted on April 2nd with Iran by the Group 5 + 1 (consisting of the five UN veto powers and Germany) makes many companies hopeful for an early relaxation of economic relations with Iran. The construction, mining and natural stone industry could also benefit from an easing of sanctions after twelve years of negotiations. IranConMin (the international trade fair for construction machinery and mining) provides the ideal platform to now expand existing business contacts as well as to establish new ones.
analytica Vietnam again confirms its role as the most important technology hub in Vietnam
The fourth analytica Vietnam, the International Trade Fair for Laboratory Technology, Analysis, Biotechnology and Diagnostics, came to a successful close mid of April at the Saigon Exhibition & Convention Centre in Ho Chi Minh City. From October 17 to 20, 2014, approximately 250 exhibitors from eleven countries presented their product innovations at IranConMin in Tehran. On the more than 10,000 square meters of exhibition space, around 20,000 trade fair visitors were informed about the latest trends in the construction, mining and natural stone industry. The interest on the part of the exhibitors and visitors is so great that IranConMin will take place every year in the future – instead of every two years as has been the case. The next trade fair is planned for October 17 to 20, 2015 in Tehran.
IranConMin invites the world of construction and mining to Tehran
After a four-year break, IranConMin again opens its doors from 17th to 20th October 2014. In 2015, the Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition (Auto Shanghai) will be taking place for the first time in the new China Expo Convention and Exhibition Complex (China Expo Complex), between April 20 and 29.
