After the postponement of the original date due to the coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19), the trade fair now runs from June 7-11, 2020. Since Algeria has been investing strongly in house building and infrastructure, the Algerian construction sector continues to be a growth market.
At BATIMATEC 2020 national and international exhibitors will present the full range of products and services for the construction industry, such as building materials, ceramics and stone, heating and ventilation, sanitary technology and interior fittings. In the past year, almost 40 per cent of the companies came from abroad. During the five event days, around 200,000 visitors kept themselves up to date on the latest trends of the industry.
Algeria has become the fourth biggest national economy in Africa, despite the political situation. Until 2050 the population is predicted to grow from 43 million people nowadays by almost 50 per cent up to 61 million inhabitants. Accordingly, the country continues to invest in large housing and infrastructure projects. Currently, the construction sector adds about twelve per cent to Algeria's gross domestic product.
